The Schlum family has called Arizona home for 5 generations, we’ve worked alongside Arizona families as small-business owners and community leaders. I’ve been blessed to continue that legacy as a husband, father and grandfather, small-business owner, and former Mayor of Fountain Hills Arizona USA.

In recent years, we’ve watched our country change. Political tensions have risen, faith and family values are under attack, and the government too often forgets whom it serves. Conservative leaders across America are compelled to step forward and engage. After much prayer, and strong encouragement from family, friends, and community leaders, I felt a clear conviction to answer that call.

When I learned that an open seat had become available in Arizona’s 3rd Legislative District, I knew it was time to step up again and serve. I am running for the Arizona House of Representatives to bring a fresh, hopeful, and an unapologetic common sense conservative voice to the Capitol — one that will fight government overreach while restoring respect and civility to our public life.

As Mayor of Fountain Hills, I led with fiscal discipline, common sense, and a focus on public safety and quality of life. I worked to protect taxpayers, support law enforcement, and keep our community a great place to raise a family and run a business. That same approach will guide me at the Legislature:

Limited, accountable government that does less micromanaging of your life and more protecting of your freedoms.

Strong Arizona families and communities, including defending life, parental rights, and educational freedom.

Respect for our Constitution and state sovereignty, so decisions about Arizona are made by Arizonans.

Arizona is a remarkable place — the Grand Canyon State, blessed with natural beauty and extraordinary people. I want more of our news to be about families enjoying this great state, and less about government creeping further into our lives.

Why I'm Running

In the wake of the tragic assassination of the great Charlie Kirk, I was deeply moved by the call from his wife and the TPUSA organization for every Christian conservative to step forward and engage in public service in a more meaningful way. Shortly afterward, I learned that an open seat had become available in my district (LD3) for the Arizona House of Representatives.

Over the past several weeks, I have received strong encouragement from family, friends, and community leaders to answer that call. But above all, I have felt a clear conviction from God to step forward and serve.

For these reasons, I am announcing my candidacy for State Representative in Arizona’s 3rd Legislative District.

Arizona faces serious challenges: families are hurting, our borders are insecure, our rights are under pressure, and our children are being influenced by destructive ideologies. We need leaders who will stand firmly for truth, protect our freedoms, and fight for the values that make this state strong.

I believe in the worth of every unborn child. I believe in biological reality: male and female. I believe in free speech, secure borders, election integrity, safe communities, and a government that serves its people honestly. And I believe now is the time for ordinary citizens to rise and lead with courage.
