Meet Jay

Committed to Faith, Family, and Service.

The Schlum family has called Arizona home for five generations, and I’ve been blessed to continue that legacy as a husband, father and grandfather, small-business owner, and former Mayor of Fountain Hills.

I stepped up to run for Mayor to save our city from financial calamity, got the job done, and then returned to the private sector. Now, years later, I see our great state struggling as the liberal ideology of Governor Katie Hobbs has turned a top-five economy into a bottom-five economy.

With both of our State Representatives running for higher office, I’m answering the call once again to serve and help get Arizona back on the right track.

The left is attacking our faith, our values, our liberties, and our families themselves. That’s why I’m running—to defend what makes our state and country great and to beat back those who seek to destroy it.

I’ll do this the way I always have: with a strong and unapologetic conservative voice that treats everyone with respect while refusing to compromise on our core values.

As Mayor of Fountain Hills, I led with fiscal discipline, common sense, and a focus on public safety and quality of life. I worked to protect taxpayers, support law enforcement, and keep our community a great place to raise a family and run a business. That same approach will guide me in the Legislature.

It would be an honor to earn your trust, your prayers, and your support as I seek to serve you in the Arizona House of Representatives.

Leadership Experience

Jay previously served as the Mayor of Fountain Hills, where he worked tirelessly to keep the community safe, fiscally responsible, and family-focused. Under his leadership, Fountain Hills prioritized:

  • Strong public safety and support for local law enforcement

  • Responsible, balanced budgeting

  • Preserving the character of the community while planning for thoughtful growth

  • Listening to residents and ensuring their values were represented

  • Supporting parks, families, and local businesses

Jay’s leadership style is simple: listen well, serve faithfully, and steward resources wisely. He brings the experience of leading a real community, not a political machine, and he understands the day-to-day concerns of families who simply want good schools, safe streets, and a government that works.

Why I'm Running

In the wake of the tragic assassination of our friend Charlie Kirk, I was deeply moved by calls from his wife, Erika, and the TPUSA organization for Christian conservatives to step forward and engage more meaningfully in public service.

Shortly afterward, I was approached to run for one of the open State House seats in our district and recognized that I was being called once again to serve.

Arizona faces serious challenges. Families are hurting. While our borders are now secure thanks to President Trump, our state is still hosting a massive number of illegal aliens. Our rights are under pressure, and our children are being influenced by destructive ideologies.

We need leaders who will stand firmly for truth, protect our freedoms, and fight for the values that make Arizona strong.

I believe in the worth of every unborn child.
I believe in biological reality—male and female.
I believe in free speech, secure borders, election integrity, safe communities, and honest government.

And I believe now is the time for ordinary citizens to rise and lead with courage.

It would be an honor to earn your trust, your prayers, and your support.

Paid for and approved by Vote Schlum.
